Bubble Screen – hydrokinetic sculpture
water, air, air compressor, pneumatic valves, computer
18” x 16” x 7” – December 2001

Created for the Interface show at the California College of Arts and Crafts, Bubble Screen was my first foray into digitally controlled bubble sculpture. This piece was amplified by microphones at listening at the top of the tank, and sounded like a cross between a drum circle and a running stream. The bubbles were sequenced to be a rhythmic and dynamic experience for the audience. This piece was the start of a series of works, including Lifeblood and ThinkTank. In the future I plan to develop these projects even further, incorporating more resolution, control, and interactivity. |
