Stephanie Andrews is a multimedia and installation artist who uses techniques of illusion and transformation to bring people into her work as active agents of perception. Her work incorporates technologies such as digital imaging, video, 3D graphics, neon, and computer-controlled kinetic systems. She has also been a long-time organizer and artist for the Burning Man Festival, as well as a key contriubiting member of the midwest arts group SynchroniCity. She exhibits in diverse settings: galleries, museums, feature films, and television and frequently collaborates with members of other disciplines in the realization of large-scale artistic works. She is currently an Instructor of 3D Animation and Rendering at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and Oakton Community College. In addition, she works with the University of Chicago, creating animations to illustrate cosmology for the SCOPE group. Designed for interactive virtual reality environments, plasma screens, and the web, this work is being installed at the Adler Planetarium and SciTech Museum. Previously, Andrews was a Technical Director for Pixar Animation Studios on the films A Bug’s Life and Toy Story 2. She recently earned her MFA in Art and Technology at SAIC, and reciveved a BA in Art from the University of Washington in 1996. |
